Make Yourself Feel Better
Just as a walk in the park or speaking with a friend can make you feel better, you have the same ability to make yourself feel better, too. Here are 5 quick and easy strategies for increasing your happiness!
1. Close Your Eyes and Smile
As silly as this sounds, it is so powerful! Try it! I'll let the results speak for itself with this one!
2. Make a Gratitude List
List all the things in your life which you are thankful for. Here are some example: I am thankful for my hands to be able to type and write. I am thankful for my best friend who is always there when I need here. I am thankful for being able to travel last year and to meet new people. List 5-10 things you are grateful for and this will provide you with extra light in your life. Everything is perspective so focus on the brighter side of things to make yourself feel better!
3. Send Loving Messages
Send some texts, emails, or write a letter to someone showing your love and appreciation for them. When I feel sad about anything, I send texts to the important people in my life letting them know how I appreciate them and in what ways they've helped me to grow. By giving them love, you are giving yourself love.
4. Focus on Your Breathing, Breathe Love
All of your emotions effect your breathing and with each emotion you can find a pattern in your breathing. When you are anxious, your breathing may become shallow and when you are relaxed, you breathe more deeply. By focusing on your breath and breathing deeply and slowly, you will activate calmness and clarity. The anxiety, worry, or sadness will slowly disappear with each breath. While you are breathing, tell yourself that you are breathing love and allow yourself to be surrounded by and filled with the love in each breath. I LOVE this one!
5. Tell Yourself 'I Love You' and Praise Yourself
Love the child in yourself, love the person you are now, and love the person who you will become. We all make mistakes and we all have flaws so, accept this and always love yourself! And if you want to feel even better, share this same understanding love with the people around you! Don't be so hard on yourself or the people we love. We are all on our own unique journey.
