Gaining muscle can be difficult, but with these supplements (below) it becomes MUCH EASIER! When I first began my fitness journey, I used to rely on artificial energy powders that would make me feel sick, weird, and they would upset my stomach. I used to think that I had to drink that 'crap' to have a good workout....and the come-down from these drinks... NOOOOOO. Never again! 

Many of today's protein powders are full of artificial sweeteners, colorings, and flavors. Stay AWAY from those protein powders as they can cause indigestion giving you inflammation, gas, and they can also make you feel tired and groggy. Another product to be wary of is 'Mass Gainers,' these can be very bad for you and I'll talk about this in another article.

Why and how these supplements work

How and why to take Creatine

Creatine is naturally found in the body and helps to produce energy, enhance muscle growth and increase muscle volume- AKA BIGGER MUSCLES FASTER. Creatine is great because it helps build muscle, but not too quickly- so you won't risk getting stretch marks on your body as many people who take steroids do. It's important to drink lots of water when taking creatine and its beneficial to consume creatine with a sugar source such as fruit juice for better absorption in the body. Creatine is is found in animal products so meat eaters can get it from their foods. Since I am a vegetarian, it is important for me to take creatine if I want to experience quicker muscle growth. Depending on your goals,  you can take creatine before and after your workout and with meals. But it is very important to cycle on and off of creatine. 

How and why to take BCAA's

Branch Chain Amino Acids are great for a natural boost of energy before a workout. When combined with creatine I feel a nice smooth increase in energy before my workout and there are no bad feelings afterward (as when taking energy drinks). BCAA's taste gross as a powder so I STRONGLY recommend taking them in a capsule form (link above). BCAA's are great for building muscle and are found in protein rich foods. I like to combine BCAA's with my vegan protein powder (link above), so I can make sure I am getting complete proteins for muscle growth.

YES. Sometimes you just need an extra boost and coffee is a pure and natural way to get this. Like all supplements, I cycle on and off of it because with time, your body can down-regulate its receptors and it won't be as effective. I love instant coffee because its SUPER EASY and I really don't care if the coffee is from Japan, Brazil, or your backyard- I like to keep it simple and the instant coffee (in the photo above) is so good and does the trick. 

 

Most Natural supplements for muscle gain - review 

All of the supplements I have listed in this article, I have personally used myself. I've tried many supplements throughout the years. When I was a teenager and I didn't have any nutritional training (now I have my masters in nutrition and I'm a dietitian), I would use all kinds of supplements and I would feel bad and weird. Now, I am committed to using natural supplements with the best results.
